Introductory Reflection
Dorothy Ann Kelly, OSU – A Woman For All Seasons
The Communications Committee is honored to present this issue of the CNR Alumni Legacy Newsletter dedicated to the memory of an extraordinary woman who touched our lives in immeasurable ways.
We hope you will savor this issue and read it with the same joyful spirit as we experienced in writing, editing and compiling it.
March 27, 2024 marks the 15th anniversary of Sister Dorothy Ann Kelly’s passing. As you read about her many accomplishments, and the indelible influence she had on so many people not only at the College of New Rochelle, but on the global stage, you will agree that she remains “A Woman For All Seasons.”
We thought it fitting at this time to recirculate the Summer 2009 Issue of the College of New Rochelle Quarterly magazine that paid tribute to Sister Dorothy Ann. Please click here to read it.

Introducing Dorothy Short, SN '89
Like hundreds of other graduates of the College of New Rochelle, Dorothy Short, SN '89, exemplifies its motto "Serviam" and was inspired by the dedication and compassion of the Ursuline nuns who served as her teachers, advisers and mentors.
But the impact of the College and its strong Ursuline heritage is more personal for her. Dorothy Short studied at two CNR schools which her aunt, Sister Dorothy Ann Kelly, established during her 25 years as President of CNR, the School of New Resources (SNR) and the School of Nursing (SN). Dorothy and her sister, Eileen Short Quigley, SAS ‘88, are daughters of Eileen Kelly Short, SNR '97, the younger sister of Sister Dorothy Ann, SAS '51. Click here to read the full spotlight.

CNR Connections
Thank you to all the CNR alums who responded to our request for personal "CNR Connections" with Sister Dorothy Ann Kelly for this special issue of the CNR Legacy newsletter.
We heard from graduates from classes in the early 1960s when Sister Dorothy Ann was a history professor at CNR's only campus in New Rochelle through the early 1990s when she was entering her third decade as President of a higher education institution that she had expanded to four schools and multiple branch campuses.
Alumni shared wonderful memories - uplifting, humorous, poignant - of their "Connections" with Sister Dorothy Ann, ranging from a brief "hello" during an evening walk on campus to a long road trip visiting alums in California.
Although the settings varied, each "Connection" showed this remarkable Ursuline's qualities: generosity, selflessness, compassion, energy, and most of all, her steadfast loyalty and commitment to CNR, its students and alums.
As you read these "Connections," please think of and take inspiration from the example Sister Dorothy Ann Kelly set for all CNR alums. And in her memory, remember her advice: “Never be more than 10 minutes in a gathering before you mention the College of New Rochelle.” Chances are you will discover still more wonderful "Connections."

Tech Corner
WHERE'S MY (FILL IN THE BLANK)?
Have you had difficulty tracking down your checked luggage on vacation? Have you misplaced your backpack or wallet someplace? Have you lost your keys around the house?
Bluetooth trackers may provide a solution for these dilemmas.
A Bluetooth tracker is a small gadget, usually in the form of a disc, tile, or card, that is placed with a person’s belonging and enables that person to find the misplaced, or misdirected, possession. The tracker uses Bluetooth technology to wirelessly connect to the owner’s smartphone and regularly transmit a signal to that phone about the status of that belonging.
Many of these products offer other features, e.g., separation alerts that warn when a tagged item has been left behind, or where a lost item was last detected.
The most popular trackers in the marketplace currently are AirTags (only for Apple iPhones), Tile Pro, Samsung SmartTag (only for Samsung phones), and Tile Slim (for wallets). The price of one of these Bluetooth trackers is roughly in the range of $25 to $35. Be aware that some of these trackers, e.g., Tile Pro, may require an additional expense in the form of a subscription to enable certain features.
