Our World…Our Community
As we prepare for Christmas and a New Year amid so much ongoing strife, hatred and anger in the world, it might bring comfort to consider the relationships, connections and commitments that bring us together.
What a role model we have in Sr. Dorothy Ann Kelly, OSU! As you can read in the second installment of our retrospective, Sister was a leader devoted and committed to improving the world community through education and social initiatives.
And in terms of our own CNR Alumni Legacy community, as explained by Dr. Susan Parish, President of Mercy University, our Legacy will live on in the new Mercy University logo which incorporates the CNR flame, a symbol of wisdom, learning and knowledge.
This issue of "CNR Connections" includes stories of alumni from classes many years apart, as well as those from the same class, celebrating happy milestones like a centennial birthday and a family wedding together. You will also read about strangers who meet by chance and find they have CNR in common, one booking a boat trip in the 1960s from Brooklyn to Kenya and another, more recently, attending a benefit for a school in Newburgh, NY. The last entry is about two friends who have enjoyed activities together at their local senior center for 10 years, now both proudly using Mercy University's tote bags.

We continue to invite alumni from all four CNR schools and all years of graduation to submit brief articles about "connecting" with persons, places or items associated with CNR. As with this issue of “CNR Connections,” we also welcome stories of "CNR Connections" with Mercy University graduates, faculty and staff or campuses.
A reminder: Our next issue of the CNR Legacy Alumni Newsletter, coming out in March 2024, will be devoted to Sister Dorothy Ann Kelly, who was the inspiration for this "CNR Connections" column. For alums fortunate to have had a personal "Connection" with Sister Dorothy Ann Kelly, please submit your memory by December 31, 2023 to cnralumni@mercy.edu.

PRAYER
PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love.
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord;
And where there's doubt, true faith in you.
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, only light;
And where there's sadness, ever joy.
O Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console.
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved, as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
In giving of ourselves that we receive,
And in dying that we were born to eternal life.
